Fiona Is Hungry

Floppy eared Fiona is ready for the bottle.

Cant fool me with that finger. There is no food there.

Little Miss O'Hannah enjoying her share of the attention.

One of 3 new kids adopted today.

Will be tough not to spoil them.

Another shot of little miss Vanity. And yep, that's her name.

She would have been content to be held the entire afternoon. She definitely has the personality for it.

Day 101 - Adopted

We adopted 3 new kids today. This is the smallest of the 3. She is quite the snuggler as well.

The Labradors are beside themselves with excitement. New squeekies ::-)

Wolf Moon

NY Longbow has added a photo to the pool:

Wolf Moon

Last night's full Moon was the biggest (+14%) and brightest (+30%) full Moon of 2010--and it caught the attention of sky watchers around the world.

The Moon's remarkable luminosity sprung from its proximity--about 50,000 km closer to Earth than other full Moons of the year. This can happen because the Moon's orbit is not a circle but an ellipse.

Last night, the Moon was on the near side of the ellipse--a place astronomers call "perigee"--making it a big, bright perigee Moon

Snowgull

NY Longbow has added a photo to the pool:

A quick snap from a very blustery day on Lake Ontario.

Day 100 - Winter Falters

NY Longbow has added a photo to the pool:

Day 100 - Winter Falters

A warm spell has loosened winter's grip on us here. But the old man isnt done. Lake effect is on the way as I type this.

The fog here is actually smoke from a nearby woodstove caught by the cold air pressing down on the warmer ground.

A quick shot from the commute in the morning.

Rural New York.

Powerlines aaaaalways ruin my photos. But, I'm not complaining about this one, really. This was taken in May of 2009 when I was home up in UPSTATE New York, versus where I normally live in CENTRAL New York. This is the "lower" Salmon River Reservoir, which is conveniently located across from my mother's house. I'll get pictures of the Salmon River, the Salmon River Falls, and the Chenango River, eventually...

Day 99 - Park n Click

Day 99 - Park n Click

Headed out again tonight from work with barely any light left. Makes the 365 very very tricky.

Stopped in the parking lot to grab a quick pic of the sunset. Say what you want about the weather, it sure makes for a pretty sky.

Day 99... bagged and tagged.

Day 98 - Winter Reflections

NY Longbow has added a photo to the pool:

Day 98 - Winter Reflections

My 365 project has taken a serious beating as of late. Work and life have just kept me off the camera completely. Very disappointing.

So, I will keep chipping away at it. Who knows when it will actually get done.

On the drive home this evening a decent sunset. Found the reflection of it on the truck far more interesting for some reason.

Day 97 - Gray Sunday

NY Longbow has added a photo to the pool:

Day 97 - Gray Sunday

Havent had enough time to play outside yet this winter. Going through withdrawals.

Maybe I can change that in the next few weeks.

Waiting for Spring . . .

( impatiently )

I've mentioned in here before how I loathe winter time, yes? The dead season. Ugh - I hate it.

Photo was taken at the Sapsucker Woods Sanctuary - Cornell Lab of Ornithology, near Ithaca, NY.

Anyway - this photo was actually taken in mid to late October I think . . . and while it had started to cool off, and most of the leaves had fallen from their trees, the weather in general was still acceptable. Not like it is now. Tomorrow is February - one more month. We're in the home stretch. :)

2010 Shot 'o the Week - Week #4

2010 Shot 'o the Week - Week #4

Slim pickin's this week for me and photography. Prior to this basketball game, which was held on a Friday evening, and my "shot's of the week" weeks end on Fridays . . . I had taken a grand total of three pictures. 3. Those were of some car that had slid off the road and I used one of them for submission to local news media. That was it. Prior commitments prevented me from getting to the game well in advance of start time like I prefer to so that I can get my lighting setup, verify everything working etc . . . and then in fact experiencing power issues with one of the flashes (batteries) and remote fire-misfires from one of the radio receivers (also suspected battery issue) . . . sigh. I was really starting to wonder if I was going to be able to actually pull off a shot for this week.

This one will do. It isn't a half bad shot, but it ain't great either - it's a little soft. I managed to sharpen it up some in post and make some other exposure adjustments to clean up spots that got borderline nuked by the flashes.

Anyway - this is Newark Valley's Christian Tapia attempting to grab some points during a game against the visiting team from Elmira. Elmira won in a blow out.
